Roosevelt Middle School Hosts Blender Bikes
March 12th, 2019
It was a unique Monday at Roosevelt Middle School, as students encountered two lime green bicycles in the cafeteria, and the whirling noise of blenders being powered by the bikes. It may be more accurate to say that they were powered by students (and some staff) riding the bikes. Regardless, the WaveCrest Cafe blender bikes were in action again, whipping up fruit smoothies while we talked with students about our efforts to supply them with the freshest seasonal produce available.
The bikes were running nonstop during both of the school’s lunch period, and three different classes also got a closer look before and after lunch, digging deeper into the subject matter with their teachers.
We were able to get lots of fun pictures, including those of Principal, Mrs. Golly, and Assistant Principal Mrs. McGuire joining in on the fun. Extra big thanks to Mrs. Alves for lining this up, and the fantastic volunteers from the PTO.
