UPDATED: Wellness Council Taskforce Holds Public Meeting April 11th
April 03rd, 2017
Vista Unified School District is committed to providing school environments that promote and protect our children’s health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity. This year our district’s Wellness Council convened a taskforce to revise the wellness policies and ensure they are comprehensive, realistic, sustainable, and measurable.
The taskforce is guided by Emyr Rich, Compliance Coordinator with Educational Excellence Department, and Amy Haessly, Supervisor with WaveCrest Cafe. The taskforce is composed of district administrators, parent groups, and community organizations.
“We are seeking more input from students, teachers, and parents about what they want included in these policies,” shared Amy Haessly. The revised policies will be reviewed and open for comments at the next taskforce meeting on Tuesday, April 11th at 4-5 pm. This meeting is open for anyone to attend and will be held at the Innovations Center at 836 Olive Avenue in room 301.
“Our goal is to develop a comprehensive policy that truly captures and supports the great things we’re doing throughout the district to support the health and wellness of our students, staff, and families,” stated Emyr Rich. The policy revisions are anticipated to be ready for review by the School Board of Education this summer and if approved, will go into effect this Fall.
