UPDATED: Winners Announced! Strawberry Superhero Poster Contest Finalists

May 26th, 2017

When the votes were tallied on the afternoon of Sunday, May 28th at the Vista Strawberry Festival, Natalia of Vista Academy (of Visual and Performing Arts) was the first-prize winner in our Strawberry Superhero Poster Contest, and will receive a $50 gift card. Amara from Empresa Elementary was the 2nd place winner and will receive a $25 gift card.

We had over 400 entries this year, which were narrowed down to 20 semi-finalists. Those semi-finalists were put up for a vote for the five finalists, and after more than 2,100 online votes we had our finalists. Those five were on display at the Vista Strawberry Festival, where nearly a thousand people voted for the winners.

The first and second place winners will be on display at the Vista Chamber of Commerce this summer, before traveling to a VUSD office site to be announced.

Thanks again to all who participated, and for making this a fun and engaging tradition.

The votes are in! We’re thrilled to have had 2,140 votes to narrow our contest semi-finalists down to five finalists. These five will be on display Sunday, May 28th at the Vista Strawberry Festival in the Vista Village. Please be sure to stop by the WaveCrest Cafe booth and vote for the grand prize winner.

Huge thanks to all of the young artists throughout the district for sharing your talents with us. Thanks too to our WaveCrest cafe team at each school for spreading the word about the contest. And of course thank you to the teachers, staff, parents and families who support our VUSD students each and every day.

Without further ado, here are the five finalists’ posters. Good luck to you all.
