Roosevelt Celebrates Halloween With Ghoulishly Delicious Treats!

November 08th, 2019

“The horror… THE HORROR!!!” A truly terrifying event took place this Halloween on the Roosevelt Middle School campus. Students, hungry for their usual fill of sugary sweets, were greeted with items not often consumed by the average teenager. Coagulated blood (bell peppers), hardened slug slime (unblanched kale), and rat pieces (roasted garbanzo beans) were offered up at lunch, as the brave youngsters proved they were fearless of healthy choices.

Taste tests are a great way to get kids to try items they normally wouldn’t when looking through the fridge at home. This spook-tacular event was made all the more fun by incorporating themes from Halloween, and getting students to play off of each other’s wariness. WaveCrest Cafe is making a concerted effort to bring engaging events like this to schools throughout the district in order to promote school lunch and healthy eating habits.

Many thanks to Roosevelt Middle School staff and PTA for making this happen. Your awesome enthusiasm shone through and made the activity all the more fun. Bonus points for the fabulous costumes worn.
