May 7th is School Lunch Hero Day

May 03rd, 2021

Celebrate our WaveCrest Cafe school lunch heroes on Friday, May 7th. School Lunch Hero Day is held the first Friday in May of each year and marks a day to recognize our school nutrition professionals’ outstanding and important work.

The entire series of graphic novels are available in every elementary school

Vista Unified has a unique relationship to this day, as we have had the privilege of hosting the day’s founder, children’s author Jarrett J. Krosoczka, to speak with our staff several years ago. Mr. Krosoczka is the author of the Lunch Lady series of graphic novels, a fun and action-packed set of adventures that find the hero, a school lunch professional, battling a series of villains ranging from a cyborg substitute teacher to a bake sale bandit.

What’s more, every elementary school library in the district has a complete set of the Lunch Lady graphic novel series available.
